Fuel-cell based Green Hydrogen Microgrid Project at Simhadri in Andhra Pradesh

Green Hydrogen Microgrid Project

Recently, NTPC has launched India’s first Green Hydrogen based Microgrid Project at Simhadri, Andhra Pradesh.

It will be the precursor to large-scale hydrogen energy storage projects.

Green hydrogen is produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. This production process uses electrolyzers powered by renewable energy sources such as wind and solar.

This project will provide the benefit of de-carbonization to remote areas of the country (like Ladakh). Also, due to its characteristics such as sustainability, ease of storage, etc., it helps in meeting clean energy goals.
