First Living Robot Capable of Reproduction
Recently scientists have developed the first living robot capable of reproduction.
The world’s first living robot has been named Xenobots. It is made from the stem cells of the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis).
Xenobots are less than a millimeter wide. They are able to walk and can work together in groups. Apart from this, you can also treat yourself.
Stem cells are specialized cells that have the ability to develop into different types of cells.
Now, scientists have discovered an entirely new form of biological reproduction to build living robots capable of self-replicating, unlike any other organism or plant.
Researchers have used artificial intelligence to create a framework for organizing xenobots into a new type of organism.
Possible applications of xenobots
- In removing ocean and land based plastic pollution.
- If xenobots were created with the help of mammalian stem cells, they could be used to make lenses for the recovery of vision.
- May also be used to clear plaque that causes heart block, or brain damage.
- Cancer cells can be programmed to attack and kill them.
