Exports of Gholvad Sapota/Chikoo from Maharashtra
Recently, GI-certified Gholvad Chikoo exports to the UK from Maharashtra have started.

- Gholvad Sapota fruit is known for its sweet and excellent taste. Its GI certification has been awarded to the Maharashtra Rajya Chikoo Utpadak Sangh.
- Experts believe that the soil of Maharashtra Gholvad village is high in calcium, due to which the unique taste is produced in this Chikoo.
- Sapota is also grown in several states – Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. Karnataka is considered to be the most productive state of fruits after the state of Maharashtra.
- This Chikoo can be used in salads, milk or yogurt, as a sauce and as a jam.
