Duty exemption for oxygen transport vessels

Recently the central government has directed all the major ports across the country to waive all charges for oxygen and related equipment in view of increase in cases of corona virus infection.

According to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, vessels carrying medical grade oxygen, oxygen tanks, oxygen bottles, portable oxygen generators and oxygen concentrators will be given top priority at all major ports and will not be charged in any form.

In addition, the government recently announced a rebate on the import of the Corona vaccine, as well as customs duties for medical grade oxygen and related equipment.

Lack of oxygen has emerged as a major problem in the growing cases of corona virus pandemic. In view of this situation, the ‘Oxygen Express’ has recently been introduced by the Indian Railways.
