On 17 April, the death anniversary of the first Vice President of Independent India, and the second President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was celebrated.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan 

  • Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on 5 September 1888 in Tiruttani village of Chittoor district of the then Madras Presidency.
  • Radhakrishnan was a renowned philosopher, along with a teacher, and he became the President of India in the year 1962 and held this position till 1967.
  • He was also a member of the Constituent Assembly from 1947 to 194 He was nominated 16 times for the Nobel Prize in Literature and 11 times for the Nobel Peace Prize.
  • After a long illness, Radhakrishnan died on 17 April He was posthumously awarded “The Templeton Prize” by the US Government in 1975.
