Cyclone Detection Technology
Recently, researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur have developed a technology that is capable of detecting tropical cyclones (Cyclone Detection Technology) of the Indian Ocean even before satellites installed in space.
Key points
- Through this technology, the local administration will get a large time gap between the information of cyclone and its impact, which will greatly help in cyclone management activities.
- Under this technique by the researchers of the Indian Institute of Technology, the pre-cyclonic activities and processes in the atmospheric column are identified and identified and its spatial-temporal development is tested.
- The study has been conducted under the ‘Climate Change Programme’ in collaboration with the ‘Department of Science and Technology’, Government of India.
- Under which researchers from the ‘Indian Institute of Technology’ studied 4 severe cyclones – Phailin, Varda, Gaza, Madi and two pre-monsoon cyclones – Mora and Aila, developed over the North Indian Ocean after the monsoon.
