DAY-NRLM organizes CSR conclave with Corporates for synergysing efforts at the grassroots
Around 60% of the total CSR funds spent in the period 2014-15 to 2020-21 were spent on activities related to education, health care and rural development.
CSR is a commitment by businesses to incorporate social and environmental concerns into their business operations.
Under this, companies fulfilling certain conditions have to spend 2% of their average net profit on CSR activities.
CSR spending has been made mandatory for the following companies:
- Having a net worth of Rs 500 crore or more during any financial year, or having a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore or more, or having a net profit of Rs 5 crore or more during the last three consecutive financial years.
- Activities eligible for CSR include contributing to Swachh Bharat Kosh, Clean Ganga Kosh, Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan etc.
- Companies may make token donations or conduct CSR activities themselves, which lack strategic planning and impact assessment.
Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-
- National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY – NRLM) has organized CSR Conclave.
- This is the first step in this series. This event has been organized to make welfare initiatives effective in rural areas.
- DAY – NRLM is an initiative of the Union Ministry of Rural Development. It aims to reduce poverty by enabling poor families to start gainful self-employment and get skilled labor employment opportunities.
