Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
Recently, the Prime Minister has chaired the meeting of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research CSIR Society.
The meeting was attended by eminent scientists, industrialists and senior officials of science related ministries. This society organizes annual meeting to review CSIR activities and consider its future programmes.
The Prime Minister is the President of the CSIR Society. CSIR is an autonomous body constituted under the administrative oversight of the Ministry of Science and Technology. It was established in the year 1942.
It is a network of 37 national laboratories and 39 outreach centers with pan India presence. The Prime Minister is its chairman.
