Corruption Perception Index released by Transparency International.
- India ranks 85th out of 180 countries in this index. India has got 40 marks. India was ranked 86th position last year.
- According to this report, India’s score has remained stable over the past decade. This is because some of the mechanisms that can help curb corruption are weakening.
- Denmark, New Zealand and Finland jointly topped the index.
- The index ranks countries on the basis of perceived levels of corruption in their public sector. In this, information is taken from experts and businessmen.
- It uses a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (zero corruption).
