Community Based Inclusive Development Program (CBID)

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India has recently launched a 6-month Community Based Inclusive Development Program for the rehabilitation of PwDs.

Key points of Program

  • The objective of the program is to create a group of grassroot ‘rehabilitation workers’ at the community level, who can tackle various disciplines related to the disability with ASHA and Anganwadi workers and help in the inclusion of PwDs in society.
  • The CBID program is designed based on the skill-based knowledge and skills of this rehabilitation personnel so that it can enhance its efficiency in successfully performing its duties. These workers will be called “Divyang Mitra”.
  • The National Board of Examinations will conduct examinations under this program which will work under the Rehabilitation Council of India. A certificate will be given to the students who pass this exam.
