Char Dham Highway Project (CDHP)
Recently, the Supreme Court has stressed the need for a careful proceeding on the Char Dham Highway project to address safety and environmental concerns.
The work on the scheme of Char Dham Highway Project CDHP was started in the year 2016. It aims to widen hill roads to provide all-weather connectivity in the Char Dham circuit comprising four major temples of Uttarakhand- Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
Security Concerns: The Defense Ministry had raised security concerns on three national highways Rishikesh to Mana, Rishikesh to Gangotri and Tanakpur to Pithoragarh. These are roads of strategic importance and lead to the border of China.
