Centre completed asset monetisation worth Rs 96,000 crore
In the year 2021-22, assets worth Rs 96,000 crore were monetised.
The central government has completed transactions worth Rs 96,000 crore under the National Monetization Pipeline (NMP) in the year 2021-22. Thus, the government has exceeded the target of Rs 88,000 crore set for this year.
- The NMP was announced in the Union Budget 2021-22. NITI Aayog has been entrusted with the task of developing it.
- The NMP will help develop a common framework for monetization of core assets.
- Core assets are at the heart of an organization’s business objectives. These are used to provide infrastructure services to the public and users.
The core asset monetization framework has three key conditions:
- Rights will be monetised, not ownership.
- Such brownfield risk-free assets will be monetised, which have stable sources of income.
- Structured partnership under a defined negotiating framework.
