BRICS Sherpas meeting of 2022
The first BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Sherpa meeting of the year 2022 was held in virtual form.
About Sherpa:
- A Sherpa is the personal representative of the leader of a member country in an international summit like G8, G20 etc.
- The word is derived from Nepali Sherpa people. They act as guides for mountaineers in the Himalayas.
- They coordinate the agenda and build consensus. Additionally, they participate in pre-summit consultations to help discuss the side of their leaders.
- There is only one Sherpa at each summit per member country.
