  • BrahMos is a joint venture of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) of India and NPO of Russia.
  • It is named after the Brahmaputra and Moskva rivers.
  • The missile is capable of attacking surface and sea-based targets from land, sea, and air, and has been in the arsenal of the Indian Armed Forces for a long time.
  • As per the obligations of the ‘Missile Technology Control Regime’, the missile’s range was originally limited to 290 km. With India joining the club in June 2016, the idea is to increase the range to 450 km and later to 600 km.
