Biological Cleaning
Art conservators in Italy have cleaned up centuries of dirt and soot on priceless marble sculptures created by Michelangelo. Angelo was a famous Italian sculptor, painter and architect.
Bio-cleaning (Biological Cleaning) technology is based on the use of environmentally safe microorganisms, including bacteria, archaea and eukaryotes. It is a useful technique to restore and clean up cultural heritages in their original form.
For the first time in the 1980s, researchers in the USA used Desulfovibrio vulgaris bacteria to clean a monument.
Advantages over chemical methods: Risk free, easy to use, adhesive ability, low cost and quick-to-use, etc.
