Bihar coupled elephant center to Valmiki Tiger Reserve
The Forest Department of Bihar has set up an elephant rescue center in the ‘Valmiki Tiger Reserve’.
The Valmiki Tiger Reserve is located at the north-eastern end of the International Border with Nepal in West Champaran district.
The reserve is surrounded by the Gandak River in the west.
It is adjacent to the Chitwan National Park of Nepal in the north. Chitwan shares a forested boundary with Sohgibarwa Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh.
Geographical features-
It represents one of the last stretches of forests with a unique combination of Terai-Bhabar flora. It is the only protected area where gaur is found in Shivalik and Gangetic plains.
