About IAS Exam
UPSC exam is also known as the IAS exam. This exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission to recruit suitable aspirants into the civil service of India including IAS, IPS, IRS and other services.
There are three phases of this exam: Prelims exam, Mains exam and personality test or interview. The Prelims exam is just a screening test and it’s qualifying in nature. The marks obtained in the Prelims exam are not counted in the final merit list but the score in the General Studies paper is essential to determine the cut off of the UPSC Prelims exam. Prelims exam consists of two papers that are objective type MCQ based while UPSC mains exam consists of 9 descriptive papers.
Prelims exam is scheduled to be held on 5th June 2012 while Mains exam will be held on 16th September 2022. The date of the personality test or interview is yet to be announced.
The IAS exam follows an extensive syllabus for the papers in prelims and mains so candidates must download the micro list for the UPSC syllabus for good coverage of the syllabus.
