Recently, the updated Glacial Lakes Atlas map of the Ganges river basin has been released by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.

- In this atlas, released by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, about 4,707 glacial lakes of the Ganga basin have been included for mapping.
- In this study, glacial lakes with water diffusion area of more than twenty five hectares have been mapped using Resourcesat-2 Linear Imaging Self Scanning Sensor-IV (LISS-IV) satellite data.
- This atlas is available on the Bhuvan Portal of National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC), ISRO.
