India’s AI supercomputer ‘AIRAWAT’ ranks 75th in the world
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) supercomputer ‘AIRAWAT’ established at C-DAC, Pune has been placed at 75th position in the world ranking. The top 500 global supercomputing list was announced at the 61st International Supercomputing Conference (ISC 2023) in Germany.
In this, India has been placed among the top countries with AI supercomputing in the world. This system has been established under the National Artificial Intelligence Program in India.
AIRAWAT
- ‘AIRAWAT’ is the short form of AI Research Analytics and Knowledge Dissemination Platform (AIRAWAT).
- It is a supercomputer with 200 AI Petaflops Mixed Precision Peak Compute Capacity-of-Concept (PoC).
- The AIRAWAT POC of 200 AI petaflops integrated with ultimate perfection delivers a total peak compute capability of 410 AI petaflops mixed precision and a continuous compute capability of 8.5 petaflops (Rmax) double precision.
- It is funded by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and implemented by C-DAC, Pune.
- Peak compute capability (double precision, Rpeak) is 13 petaflops.
- AIRAWAT is in line with the vision of making technology and artificial intelligence available for public welfare in the socio-economic upliftment of the country.
Frontier: The record for the world’s fastest supercomputer is still held by the Frontier System at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), which is also the world’s first exaflop computer.
