7th India-EU Cyber Dialogue
Why In News?
- Recently at the seventh India-EU Cyber Dialogue held in Brussels, both sides exchanged views on cyber policies, strategies and areas.
Objective:
- To provide a forum to discuss various issues related to cyberspace.
- Both sides exchanged views on cyber policies, strategies and areas of mutual interest.
- They discussed cyber cooperation in multilateral fora, including the UN, and regional settings, including the OSCE, ARF and the G
Important Point:
- In the context of the strategic partnership between India and the EU, both sides appreciated the Cyber Dialogue Mechanism as it provides a platform to discuss a wide range of issues related to cyberspace.
- In the strategic partnership, both sides exchanged views on cyber policies, strategies and areas of mutual interest.
- Both sides discussed cyber cooperation in multilateral fora and regional settings, including the United Nations.
- The two sides also discussed cooperation in promoting capacity building in cyberspace and combating criminal use of information and communications technologies.
In the context of India-EU relations:

Other important points:
- India is an important trade and investment partner for the EU.
- India’s bilateral trade with the EU stood at US$36 billion in 2021-22.
- The EU and India have established several mechanisms for greater cooperation on critical security challenges such as counter-terrorism, maritime security and nuclear non-proliferation.
- The EU and India also underline their highest political commitment to the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement and the UNFCCC.
- The India-EU Science and Technology Steering Committee meets annually to review scientific cooperation.
- Both have official mechanisms in areas such as digital communications, 5G technology, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, etc.
