64th Foundation Day of Border Roads Organization
Border Roads Organization (BRO) celebrated its 64th Raising Day on May 07, 2023 in all the troops across the country.
- BRO Technical Training Complex and an Automated Driving Track were inaugurated on the occasion of Raising Day.
- These facilities will enhance the training standards of BRO personnel and help them to be better prepared for various challenges.
- BRO-centric software developed as part of the ‘Digital India’ initiative was also launched on the occasion.
- These softwares have been developed to integrate Recruitment Management System, Electronic Measurement Book and Work Management System for smooth and quick output and to enhance transparency and automate various aspects of the working of BRO.
- Apart from this, an MoU was signed for the construction of indigenous Class 70R double lane modular bridge. These bridges will be helpful in strengthening the operational system of the Armed Forces.
- Class 70R double lane modular bridges are pre-engineered steel bridges designed to carry vehicular traffic on two lanes.
- The multi-modal campaign ‘Ekta evam Shradhanja Abhiyan’, which started on 10th April, 2023, was also flagged off at the event.
Ekta evam Shradhanja Abhiyan
- It was launched as a part of 64th BRO Day celebrations to remember the sacrifice and contribution of our Karmayogis in nation building.
- The Director General of Border Roads flagged off the motor cycle and car rally teams. The expedition team consists of a motor cycle and a motor car.
- In this campaign with motor-cycles and four-wheelers, samples of soil, rivers/lakes/reservoirs were collected by teams from different bordering States/UTs.
- The motorcycle phase of the expedition began on April 14, 2023 from Kibithu, Arunachal Pradesh.
- Expedition members from eighteen projects collected soil, water and plants from 108 remote border locations. These saplings will be planted at the Border Roads Organization School and Center located in Pune, the parent organization of the Border Roads Organisation.
Border Roads Organisation :
- BRO was conceived and established in the year 1960 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to coordinate the rapid development of road construction in the north and north-eastern border areas of the country.
- It functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence. It has brought a wide variety of levels of construction and development work, including airfields, construction projects, defense works and tunneling, and is very popular with the public.
